Movable property belonging to Nkululeko Rusununguko TV (NRTV) is set to go under the hammer this Wednesday as former and current employees move to recover more than US$200,000 in unpaid wages. The auction follows a High Court order authorising seizure of the military-owned broadcaster’s assets after it ignored a Labour Court ruling to pay US$278,479.88 to 70 workers.

The auction, to be conducted by KM Auctions, includes motor vehicles valued at US$76,000 as well as office equipment such as refrigerators, printers and television sets. This development comes after the employees successfully approached the Labour Court, where arbitrator Patience Kavuru determined that NRTV had defaulted on salary payments. The company, owned by Nkululeko Rusununguko Holdings—a firm in which the Zimbabwe National Army has significant interests—did not comply with the order, prompting the workers to seek enforcement through the High Court.

NRTV has faced mounting criticism over financial mismanagement, with leadership accused of squandering millions of dollars on inflated television content. Many employees have already left the company but continue to pursue their outstanding dues. The seizure and auction mark a significant step in their efforts to recover what they are owed.
