A man from Chipinge has been taken into custody after he allegedly stole nine goats and kept the money that had been handed to him for purchasing the livestock, authorities in Manicaland have confirmed.

According to police, the suspect was contracted to buy the goats but instead diverted the funds and took the animals for himself. The matter came to light when the owner reported the missing livestock and the unfulfilled purchase.

Investigations led to the suspect’s arrest in Chipinge. He is expected to face fraud and theft charges once formalities are completed.

Police have urged residents to exercise caution when entrusting funds to third parties for livestock purchases and to verify transactions through proper channels.
